Enchanted Coron

I don’t why, but we seemed to have become an impulsive traveler lately. First we went to Batanes last April, without really planning about it. Then a month after, we landed here in Coron Palawan even if I’m not paying for this trip, I am running out of air in booking this trip. We have spent around P7,000+++ per person for airfare alone. For the past months I have ignored peso seats and all the popular seat sales. It might have cost us only 3k or 2k if we booked early. Other than that we spent around 8,000+++ per night at Coron Gateway. All-in Packages cost around 25,000 per person! For crying out loud! That is so expensive and I don’t want my mother to be spending this much for us. This is a consequence of booking only a week before your trip.

Coron Palawan **When I saw this, I got freakin excited! You know I’m a fan of beaches, islands and nature 🙂 When we got there Our service picked us up and I had a little chat with one of the tour guides. His approached was “Blogger ka?” “Medyo. Paano mo nalaman?” (deep within me, I was guessing maybe he read my blog before and he recognized me) “Mukha lang” weng weng weneeeeeeeeeeeg! I could hear vice ganda in my head saying “Eksahiradang frog to!” I was wearing my spectacles that time that’s why I think he assumed. Then there goes vice ganda in my head again. Sino ba naman kasi nagbabasa ng blog na to kundi nanay at kapatid mo lang. Asa ka naman!

Before Vice ganda gets in your head too, Let’s move on and talk about my trip. I forgot how expensive this trip has become when I saw the sunset. You know how much I love it.

Sunset in Coron

This photo was taken in a restaurant near Coron Gateway. I never knew that swamps could actually make sunsets more beautiful 🙂 That night we had a little stroll ate dinner on little restaurants in the streets and call the night early because people in Coron sleeps early.

Goto mata at utak.. Hmmnnnn sounds interesting

-Read Read muna habang nag waiting galore sa mamang Bangkero na matagal. I was reading Fallen by Lauren Kate by the way 🙂

Boat Ride

Day Tour in Coron with the kids…Who would have thought? I’m the eldest Ahem!

On our first stop we went to see a shipwreck. The water in this part is so deep. I wanted to remove my life saver and swim below like Ariel. But my mom wouldn’t let me 😦

Pristine waters of Coron

This is another stop. Forgive me for not remembering the name. The black part you see are corals and the turquoise color is the sand. I swam with so may fish and I saw sea urchins.Yum!

This is where we stop by to have lunch. It was midday but I have seen so much of Coron. You know that feeling that you’ve seen so much but you still can’t get enough  because you know there’s gonna be much more.

How could this place be so beautiful? Sometimes I think God plays favoritism. How come there is so many beautiful things and places in just one province. I haven’t been to ElNido but I have seen enough to be convinced that Palawan is awesome! I’m so jealousof the people who live here. But I’m just glad that Palawan is part of the Philippines.

I enjoyed my vacation here. This is prolly one of the best summers I had in my life 🙂

This boat ride was like the escape scene in the movie  Bourne Legacy.

Our next stop is Kayangan Lake. You have to do a lot of climbing and walking before you get to see paradise. You know travelling is like life, You have to make a lot of sacrifices which will all be worth it in the end.

Kayangan Lake

A glimpse of heaven before you get there 🙂 This is what you will see after climbing. You will forget how hard the journey up here was when you see this.

Kayangan Lake

After the ascend, you will do another activity which is descending. Finally here we are at the hidden paradise of Coron Palawan. It was like a place where fairies hide and goddesses of nature take a bath, The pristine waters of Kayangan lake was like sanitized by God.

When I got in the water, the tiredness I was feeling was suddenly gone. The waters were very calming and a bit chilly. I closed my eyes and laid back. I floated for like forever. I sound of the people swimming was shut out. Everybody was likwe in mute mode. It felt like I’m the only person existing at that time. I could hear insects like grasshopper and others. They were like humming a rhythm in rejoice of God. Their sound echoed   across the lake.  And then without noticing it, I was already communing with God. Times like these, I was given an opportunity to actually hear God answering back my prayers. I know. I felt his love right there. It was another heaven in the Philippines that I found. I am grateful. I was feeling overflowing love and energy you feel. I realized that the lake was enchanted. I came to my senses when my mother called that it was time to leave. When I opened my eyes, I didn’t realized that the tiny waves of the lake, brought me near the the fishes. It was beautiful to see  them swimming with me.

You think my journeys over well our next stop involves more climbing we climb over 600 steps to ge here:

and experience another lovely sunset

I know I look tired. Who wouldn’t be? That was over 600 steps and I thought I would lose my lungs. But It was perfect. My lungs needed fresh air like this. Manila has poisoned it for over a year.

And that wraps up my summer 2013 🙂 When I had these trips, Dan Brown’s inferno was very controversial at that time because he made Manila his setting as a gate to hell. To be honest, I wasn’t offended like many others. Manila isn’t exactly a loable city that is to die for. But I am grateful of this City Coz it actually serve as a gate to heaven for my awesome Batanes and Coron Trips.

Next stop: Hong Kong in October

Niji Japanese Restaurant, Angeles City

GO SAI MASU! – Just as when you enter the restaurant, every staff will greet you with their warm welcome. The setting is also very nice and clean. The beautiful waitresses wears Kimono that looks sophisticated and elegant while the waiters wears a uniform that reminds me of a cartoon I used to watch when I was younger.

Japanese food is our family’s favorite cuisine. Although it is expensive, it has become our comfort food. It is very healthy unlike Chinese food. The Japanese either men or women are even known for having long lives because a lot of them could reach the age of 100 and over. Their secret???– The food they eat. Niji offers a very wide variety of japanese dishes. And you’ll love all of them =)

Niji is our favorite Japanese Restaurant. Aside from our 10% discount we have for being a regular customer It has the best Japanese food in town. It’s tried and tested! Better than Red Kimono of course. Cheaper and definitely better than Zen (Popular Jap. Restaurant located inside Clark). Niji is located in Friendship, Angeles City. This restaurant has 4 sections. The Dining area, Sushi Bar, Yakiniku, Tepanyaki corner. The section that will be featured in this post is the Yakiniku Corner.

Tepanyaki is a style of japanese cusine that uses an iron griddle to cook food. In Japan, teppanyaki refers to dishes cooked using an iron plate including steak, shrimp, yakisoba, monjayaki, okonomiyaki.

Yakiniku Squid: P165

Yakiniku liver: P 135

Ebi Tempura: 310 Tempura is a popular Japanese dish of seafood or vegetables that have been battered and deep fried. It’s one of my favorite Japanese food.

Sashimi Take moriawase-P850
Sashimi is a Japanese delicacy primarily consisting of very fresh raw seafood, sliced into thin pieces and served with only a dipping sauce (soy sauce with wasabi paste or other condiments such as grated fresh ginger, or ponzu), depending on the fish, and simple garnishes such as shiso and shredded daikon radish. Again it’s one of my favorites.

Miso Soup : P50 – the best soup ever! This is known to be a good food for the brain. For me it’s better than Chinese soup.

California Rainbow Maki- P190
Sashimi is cooked vinegared rice that is commonly topped with other ingredients, such as fish or other seafood. I can live without tempura, Sashimi but not without Sushi. It’s my favorite. The best food ever created on earth.

Is your mouth watering now? Me too. Writing this post made me wanna come back there again. There were four of us and our bill totaled P2005 (10% discount not included) If you do pass by that restaurant Pls share your stories with me. Next time I will feature Tepanyaki Corner. I don’t have enough photos in that corner because the last time we went there my camera ran out of batteries.

Fortune Hong Kong Seafood Restaurant

I think FORTUNE is one of the oldest and well known restaurants in Angeles City that serves good food. And when I say good food, I really mean something that is of high quality, in terms of taste, freshness and service in general. This is evidenced by their high turn over rate.

My Father’s NOT so favorite Restaurant is Fortune. In fact we eat here 2-3 times a month. Whenever we have visitors we bring them here and when there’s an occasion we celebrate it here. He buys food here and bring it to family gatherings. Hindi man nya paborito ang restaurant nato! Minsan kami na nagmamakaawa na wag kumain dito. But since we’re a regular customer we get discounts =)

One time it was he’s birthday then I asked him ” Pa where are we celebrating?” then he said “FORTUNE” parang galing lang tayo dun the other day and last week and nung birthday ni mama. Jollibee na lang tayo! “Bahala kayo, dun ako sa Fortune kumain kayo sa Jollibee” XD

In all fairness naman Fortune offers great food and service!

Fortune is located along MacArthurHi-way (Diamond Subdivision) Abgeles City. It is basically a Chinese Restaurant what I don’t understand is that they placed Hong Kong in their logo where in fact not a single food tastes like its from Hong Kong. Because the food here tastes great! Fortune is definitely one of the best restaurants in Angeles City. It was establish long time ago, many restaurants already tried to compete with it but only this restaurant manage to last long. If you want to visit this restaurant, your budget should range from 3,000-P5,000 (5 persons)

Swahe: P350
This is our usual appetizer. I forgot to take photo of the whole plate of Swahe, It was gone before I know. So I took a photo of my plate instead. Swahe is a fresh steamed shrimp which tastes sweet and really good. It’s 100% fresh.

Yang Chao P350-500 available in small, medium and large
What is asian cusine without the rice. For me,Fortune’s Yang Chao is the best!

Steamed Lapu-Lapu: P500-700 (depends how much the fish weighs)
This Dish was never forgotten. It’s my father’s not so favorite dish.hehe Well it really tastes good. It’s their best dish. Try it!

Spicy Crab: 500- 700 (Depends on how much it weighs)

Broccoli: P550 It’s crunchy and not over cooked.

Pata Tim: P700 They serve pork too!

My favorite beverage Four Seasons: P150

And you know what just as when I’m about to publish this post my mom called me and said ” GET READY WE’RE GOING TO EAT AT FORTUNE!

Halla Restaurant

Halla restaurant is located within the korean Town in Friendship, Balibago Angeles City. Halla offers Korean Cusine you’ll surely love.

Korean food is not Korean when rice, noodles, tofu, vegetables and meat are missing. And Of course, the table will always be full of healthy appetizers. Parang fiesta lang kung kumain!

Appetizers pa lang parang wala ng bukas!

Kimchi is a famous korean appetizer that I don’t eat :p

Anghang kaya!

My favorite is the “Bibimbap” or mixed rice. It is a bowl of rice topped with vegetables, spicy sauce, meat and fried or raw eggs.
Price: P300

Samyupsal is a meat that looks like bacon which is eaten with these vegies, unfortunately I forgot to take pictures because the waitress took it and fried them.
Price: P600

this is Doenjang (Tofu SoupSoup) Price: 200

When we ate at Halla, it was our first time to visit the restaurant. Our bil costs: P1630. We usually eat Korean food at Maharajah. And we think that Maharajah offers better korean food.

Music for Travel

Even before beginning a trip, On the way to the airport, I would always  plug my headset and start listening to music to set my mood and my excitement  for another journey. Here are the list of songs I listen to while on the road, on the plane, when sailing or even while packing:

1. Come Fly with me by Frank Sinatra

-Nothing beats the classic. I love Frank Sinatra and this is perfect when you’re flying.

2. Leaving on a jet plane by Chantal Kreviazuk- I’ve seen a lot of people post this as a status on Facebook. It’s a popular music for travellers.

-I know it’s a sad song but I like to sing leaving on a jet plane before aboard a plane

3. Everyday is a winding road by Sheryl Crow

-great when you hit the road. Ultimate feel good music by Sheryl Crow 🙂

4. Big Yellow Taxi by Counting Crows ft. Vanessa Carlton-taxi cabs are our best friend when we are in a foreign country. I know this one is not really about travelling but this song makes me feel great when I hit the road on a taxi.

5. Crusin’ by Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis- So love this romantic song about cruising 🙂

6. Under the sea (Little Mermaid)- This song is playing on my head every time I snorkel or dive 🙂 I love being under the sea and this is a perfect song when you’re swimming.

7. Be our Guest (Beauty and the beast)-I’m a disney fan 🙂 I love this because I love being treated like a princess when I’m travelling. This song fits  because we are special guests when we travel.

8. What a wonderful world– I always get speechless with our world’s beauty and this song come to my mind when I’m on a nature trip.

10. I’m sailing by Rod Stewart- Another good old music that I love 🙂

11. Country Roads (Take me home, West Virginia) by John Denver- This song brings back child memories. I listen to this in the car whenever we take a road trip to the countryside.

13.Runaway Train by Asylum- Another great old song that you can listen to when travelling.

14. Surfin’ USA by The Beach Boys-This music come to my mind whenever I see big waves and surfers.

15. I’ve never been to me by Charlene Duncan- I know it’s not really about travelling but I just like listening to this when travelling. The lyrics mentions something like this  ” been to Niece and the Isle of Greece while I’ve sipped champagne on a yacht I’ve moved like Harlow in Monte Carlo and showed ’em what I’ve got…xxx I’ve been to paradise…xxx”

What’s on your playlist? Let me know cause I need more music for longer travelling hours on my next trip 🙂
